Round lake New York

Round lake New York

Round Lake is a lake and a village in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 604 at the 2000 census. The name is derived from a circular lake adjacent to the village. In 1975, the Round Lake Historic District, which encompasses the village, was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Village of Round Lake is in the Town of Malta and is northeast of Schenectady.

The village began in 1867 as a summer camp meeting locale for groups of Methodists. At first, visitors lived in tents, while visiting ministers could rent space in the second story of the meeting's passenger station. By 1868 more permanent structures including cottages, a two-story trustees office and bookstore, and a market appeared. Besides the expected religious meetings, a week was devoted to musical endeavors [never heard of this, not sure accuracy for "music week]. It was owned and governed by the Round Lake Association and patterned after Chautauqua Institution. (no. Incorrect. The original grounds were a camp meeting that frequently featured the Troy Annual Conference Camp Meeting, the National Camp-Meeting Association for the Promotion of Holiness, and the New York State Camp Meeting. The grounds' days as the Round Lake Assembly, which was modeled after the Chautauqua Institute, did not begin until the late 1870s/1880s).
By mid 20th century, declining interest in the cultural activities of the Round Lake Association led to its demise in the 1960s. After the association was dissolved, the village was incorporated in 1969 to take its place.

Farewell to Baseball Legend Frank Robinson

Farewell to Baseball Legend Frank Robinson

Countdown Begins For Nats' Manager
Robinson Won't Be at Helm Next Season
Saturday, September 30, 2006

He was greeted by a few posters behind the home dugout, by well-wishers, by 'thank yous' and a brief but enthusiastic chant of "We love Frank!" He was met, before the game started, by a father and son who wanted to hand him a picture. Not, this time, for Frank Robinson to autograph, but one they had signed for him, Robinson posing with fans. And on it, according to Washington Nationals' bench coach Eddie Rodriguez, were written "beautiful things."

"So many people wanted to tell him," Rodriguez said, "just simple stuff. 'Thanks for the memories.' "

Robinson's farewell weekend as the Nationals' manager began last night with a 4-3 loss to the New York Mets, one that leaves just two more games in the Hall of Famer's on-field career. Sources confirmed yesterday what Robinson had made quite plain a day earlier: He was told in meetings with General Manager Jim Bowden and President Stan Kasten that he would not be asked back as manager, and all that awaits is a formal announcement.

So the game, very early on, was secondary. The Mets, even with a tissue-thin rotation, are headed to the playoffs as the National League East champions. The Nationals, even as they have played decent baseball over the last month, have the cellar locked up. No amount of emotion can change any of that.

But the two remaining games are all Robinson has left on a baseball field, where he has spent his entire working life, 51 years in all. He said after the game that he had no expectations for what his interactions with the fans might be like.

"Take what comes," he said. "Take life as it comes."

Because the Nationals have not formally announced his status, there has been no schedule released for any ceremony honoring Robinson, who has served the last five seasons as the franchise's manager -- three of those years in Montreal -- but made a far greater impact on the history of the game by first becoming the only man to win an MVP award in both leagues and then becoming the majors' first African American manager in 1975.

Kasten, who has not publicly acknowledged the fact that Robinson won't be asked back, told reporters at a speech at the National Press Club yesterday that Robinson's career "deserves to be cherished and respected" and that a tribute would happen "at the appropriate time." Indeed, club officials were busy gathering video clips of Robinson, ostensibly for a montage to be shown on the large scoreboard in right field at RFK Stadium during one or both of the season's final two games.

Robinson, though, tried his best to make yesterday a normal day, to find his normal rhythm, the one that has kept him in baseball past his 71st birthday. It was no easy task, what with the Nationals completing a game after 2 a.m. yesterday, then returning to the ballpark to face the Mets.

So when the game was being played, Robinson leaned against the railing in the dugout, peering out from under his red cap emblazoned with the script "W." He watched his starting pitcher, right-hander Tony Armas Jr., throw an ungodly 112 pitches in five innings, allowing only two runs but frustrating his manager nonetheless.

"Too many pitches," Robinson said, the refrain he has used time and again with Armas. He pointed out, in typical bluntness, that Armas finds one bad inning when it "seems like he loses all concept of how to pitch."

The Nationals, though, hung in on this one, taking a 2-1 lead on Ryan Zimmerman's 110th RBI of the season in the fourth, then a 3-2 lead on Ryan Church's second homer in as many nights in the fifth. But reliever Ryan Wagner allowed the tying run in the seventh, and Jon Rauch gave up the go-ahead run on Shawn Green's sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The results still matter to Robinson, as they do to his team. Though the players haven't been told of their manager's fate, they understand what's coming.

"I hope the last two games, we can go out and get a 'W' for him," Church said.

But beyond that, they will be games for Robinson to do things he has never done before. He may, indeed, have the opportunity for a farewell speech, though he's not sure how he'd handle it.

"Just from the heart, and whatever ad lib comes to my head," he said. "Nothing prepared. That's why sometimes it makes it sound like I'm a little off, and I go off into different directions. But I just try to say what's in my heart, and what I want to say is what comes out. That works best for me rather than trying to prepare something."

He was unprepared for what he saw last night. Rodriguez has spent the last three years as Robinson's bench coach, at his side for every pitch of every game. In between innings last night, a fan caught Robinson's attention. He wanted an autograph. An autographed baseball.

"I've never seen him a

Brokencyde - Schizophrenia

Chorus:
ONE! TWO! We're coming for you. THREE! FOUR! Lock your door. FIVE! SIX! Suck on my dick. BROKENCYDE WILL NEVER DIE! (x2)

Verse 1:
Now I can feel the needle break, up inside of my veins. They try to tell me I'm insane, but they made me that way. So come and take me away, from this monster that you've made of me. I feel like dying, erasing all of these memories...

Bridge:
I'm trapped inside this cage tonight! You torture my brain with blades and knifes! I need you to try to save my life! BEFORE I GO INSANE! (x2)

Chorus:
ONE! TWO! We're coming for you. THREE! FOUR! Lock your door. FIVE! SIX! Suck on my dick. BROKENCYDE WILL NEVER DIE! (x2)

Verse 2:
In 7 days my schizophrenia breaks my brain cavity waves, distorted, decayed! These faces of insane originated this pain, and invented these demented ways to break me! Intoxicated, I'm faded inside my dreams. Motivated on defeating these haters in everything. It's the only thing that keeps me alive. It keeps me away from all of your mother fucking lies!!!

Bridge:
I'm trapped inside this cage tonight! You torture my brain with blades and knifes! I need you to try to save my life! BEFORE I GO INSANE! (x2)

Chorus:

Verse 3:
I feel my nails rip my flesh; I feel I've gone insane. I never wanted to hurt you, but you made me this way. So now I know I'm crazy, I feel there's no more pain. These voices call out to me, they're screaming out my name.

Chorus:
ONE! TWO! We're coming for you. THREE! FOUR! Lock your door. FIVE! SIX! Suck on my dick. BROKENCYDE WILL NEVER DIE! (x4)

Chutes and Ladders

Chutes and Ladders

This delightful game is simple and easy to play, even for children who can't read. Fun pictures help kids understand the rewards of doing good deeds as they climb up the ladders-and the consequences of naughty ones as they slide down the chutes. For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: game board, spinner with plastic arrow and 4 pawns with plastic stands.

Be the first to move your child-shaped playing piece from square one to square 100 on the Chutes and Ladders game board--but watch out! If you land on the square that shows you ate too much candy--Ouch!--you get a tummy ache and slide down a chute to a square a few numbers below. But if you end your turn on a good-deed square, such as helping sweep up a mess, you'll be rewarded by a ladder-climb up the board.
A fantastic follow-up to Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders is ideal for younger children who are still learning to take turns and just beginning to recognize numbers (the spinner stays in the single digits). It's also a gentle introduction to the higher numbers as players climb to 100 at the top of the board. And, thanks to all those chutes and ladders, it's got enough excitement to keep your 7-year-old on the edge of her seat. English and Spanish instructions are included; no reading is necessary to play. Chutes and Ladders is for two to four players. --Julie Ubben

We may become the subject of experimentation of scientists as well. That's another area of control we are being subjected to. Due to many powerful controlling forces, not necessarily coupled with the right judgement, we are now surrounded by polluted water, polluted air and polluted land full of pesticides and nuclear waste.

The vast majority of politicians are bought by corporations the interests of which are to make money, and more money. Corporations are not people. They are just giant machineries working for one end: to make money. People who control the corporations are just slaves to the machinery they work for. Some of them get wise and pull themselves out. They get enormous parachute payments and run. The politicians are slaves of the slaves. They may do some posturing to show us that they are actually working for the people. But they are not. They cannot be. They need big corporate monies to back them up to be in their position to begin with.

In a situation like this, what can we do?

We, the people, are asked now, to be incrediblly, incrediblly wise. And so we are. We are getting very wise very fast. Our survival instinct of the race is waking us up. As soon as we have decided to confront the truth without anger or despair, we started to see the truth. The truth is getting more and more obvious now. The game politicians and corporations play to keep people away from truth are not working anymore. They needed people to take care of their dirty work. People who witnessed pieces of truth of what was going on started to speak out.

I know how it is when you speak out. You feel terribly vulnerable. You look around and see that nobody is with you. In fact, the whole world seems to be laughing at you. That was the experience John, my husband and I had when we spoke out. You should write to whoever had the courage to speak out and express your solidarity. Your letter becomes a protection for them. If tons of letters would go to them, they will not be covered up or disappear. That's how it works. Letter writing is still a very effective weapon. You should know that.

There are courageous reporters, too. Mad Cow disease was covered up for ten years in United Kingdom. A minister demonstrated on TV to show how it was safe for him and his son to eat cow meat as a strong gesture of assurance to the people. Despite that the truth came out to the public because of one photo of piled up cow carcasses taken by a reporter.

Shed light, and darkness disappears.

Use the most powerful addition to our lives called the Internet. The Internet is a revolution. Because of the internet, our world is becoming a global village as we predicted in the sixties. The internet communication keeps us together and wise. Politicians are now trying to find a way to block or mess up the internet communication. That means they know how important internet is for the people. They can bribe journalist in a few choice positions to make them become convenient mouth pieces, and they do, but they cannot bribe the whole internet.
There are two very important writings on the internet I want to share with you. One was by Michael Fitzgerald called Militarism: A way of life which is in the latest issue of UTNe Reader., also online at the original magazine website THE HUMANIST.

The article speaks of how being a son of a working class navy man, he has realized how millions of Americans depended their livelihoods on the permanent war economy - not limited to people in the military, but people who worked as defense contractors. A person cannot be elected to be the President of the country, unless they are voted by the military and defense contractors. Therefore, If the President does not take the nation to war, he will not be able to stay President. The article refers to the fact that Lyndon Johnson said, privately, he feared impeachment if he pulled out of Vietnam. Well, that's a hell of a statement.

When I read this article, I felt very depressed, because it was an intelligent article pointing to a logical reality I was blocking from my mind. I sent it to all my politically minded friends, and they all became just as depressed as I was. Some came back saying, "there's no point in us making a peace effort then. it's a waste of time." I felt that way, too, for a second. Am I just an old peacenik, ignoring reality? It seemed that way.

Then I've read another article that really gave me a lift. So I want to share it with you.
It was called GIVE PEACE A CHANCE which, naturally, attracted my attention immediately. It was an OpEd article in New York Times by John Tierney May 28th, 2005. It spoke of the fact that we were just facing a time of the end of the war, altogether. The logic was that "even if the war, such as the one in Iraq

Enterprise Collaboration - 6 Persona

What Type of Enterprise Collaboration 2.0 User Are You? 6 Common Users of Enterprise Communities
It takes all kinds to make a business run smoothly, so (appropriately enough) users of enterprise community platforms come in a variety of personalities, passions, and manias. From the over-friendly chatty guy who organizes the American Idol office pool to the brilliant but painfully shy girl on the product engineering team, they all have a place in the grand scheme of things, and no enterprise community would be complete without them.
*Creators—These users sign up for services and groups, troll for interesting articles and repost them, blog, maintain a personal website, load video and/or audio clips, and in general add to the vast amount of consumable content online. You know this girl: she’s the one who blogs about her knitting all the time. She posts pictures of her three disgruntled dobermans wearing knit scarves and hats, is a respected and profitable member of Etsy.com (where she can sell her stuff to others), Tweets about all the softest yarn, and has a strong Facebook following of pictures of her “furmiliated” pets.
Critics—Far from being needlessly critical of everything, these users are the uber-commenters. They post comments to articles, edit and update wikis, and relentlessly rate and review different things online (possibly active in Yelp). This one’s not hard to spot, either. He’s that quiet, kind of nerdy, bespectacled fellow who sits in the first desk by the elevator so he can see all the goings-on. You’ve never actually talked to him, but you know he listens a lot, and if you have a presence online, you’ll certainly know exactly what he does and does not like.
Collectors—These users are relatively rare, as they collect, catalogue, and store reams of useful links to websites, forums, images, articles, and videos, etc. In your enterprise network, this woman is setting herself up to be the next Kevin Rose.
Joiners—Joiners are members of all the newest and hottest social communities. They Tweet how their breakfast settled, strive to reach 1000 friends on Facebook, secretly maintain their MySpace account (though they will wildly deny this if asked directly), join and post on forums and communities, and in general revel in the socially rewarding act of becoming a part of different groups. In all likelihood, this is Bert in Accounting, who organizes all the after work happy hours at the bar down the street, dreams of a company softball team, and lobbies for friendly afternoon poker games once a quarter.
Spectators—In other words, these users are lurkers, though not necessarily in the creepy sense. They carefully read articles and posts, often both enjoying and learning from the experience. They watch videos and may listen to some of those streaming radio stations online. This is most likely that mousy girl from high school who friended you on Facebook but never posts a status update, just logs on a few times a week to see what her community is up to. These people are more comfortable knowing what others are up to and consuming content, but are either uncomfortable putting themselves out there for possible criticism, or are just plain too busy to spend the time to make their voices heard.
Inactives—You all know this guy: he dutifully signed up because all his friends did (or, in the case of enterprise collaboration, the boss told him to), then never returned or only returns rarely. He’s the one who still prints out articles he thinks you might need for your research, and has Joan in HR drop them off on your desk. He is at constant risk of having his accounts shut down due to inactivity. He has probably checked out all the latest networking sites, and may even have signed up for a few, but his profile completeness status constantly hovers around the 30% mark.
In general, what kind of user are you? The uber-commenter or the shy spectator? Have you identified other common types of users? Let us know!
